Life can feel heavy at times, and difficult seasons are part of being human. When things feel overwhelming, confusing, or painful, it can help to have someone walk alongside you. I work with individuals and couples to help them navigate life’s challenges, feel more grounded, and find steadier footing in their relationships, work, family life, and spirituality. There is always hope, even when it doesn’t feel obvious at first.
I aim to create a warm space where you can show up just as you are—without pressure, judgment, or needing to have everything figured out. This is a place where you can slow down, take a breath, reflect honestly, and make sense of what’s been weighing on you. Together, we focus on understanding where you are right now and identifying small, meaningful steps toward change when you’re ready.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Board Certified Counselor. I earned my Master of Science in Community Agency Counseling from Missouri State University in 2008. For over 15 years, I have worked with individuals and couples through private practice counseling and in my role as director of a federal program supporting first-generation college students.
While I offer premarital and new relationship counseling, much of my work is with established, long-term couples who want to strengthen their bond because they feel disconnected, stuck in recurring conflict, or uncertain how to move forward after years of shared history. Life transitions—career demands, parenting and blended family dynamics, caring for aging parents, changes in intimacy, health concerns, financial stress, or loss—can strain even strong relationships. Many couples seek counseling not because they want to end their relationship, but because what once worked no longer does.
I have completed Level 2 training in research-based Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use these evidence-based strategies as a framework in my work with couples. Sessions focus on improving communication during conflict, increasing emotional safety, and helping couples understand and shift long-standing patterns. The goal is not just insight, but practical tools that support real change outside of therapy.

Premarital / New Relationship Counseling
Premarital and new relationship counseling is a proactive way to build a strong foundation—whether you are engaged, considering long-term commitment, or wanting to be more intentional early in your relationship. This work focuses on understanding one another more deeply, strengthening communication, and creating shared meaning before patterns become entrenched.
My approach is collaborative and tailored to each couple, focusing on understanding your unique dynamic and meeting your needs in the moment. Sessions are engaging and thoughtful, with the goal of helping you learn more about yourself, your partner, and how your relationship functions. This program is geared toward monogamous couples.
First Session
The first session is ideally 90 minutes, which allows us to explore the story of your relationship, discuss the influence of family of origin, and introduce Gottman’s Sound Relationship House framework as a foundation for ongoing work. If 90 minutes isn’t feasible, a 50-minute session works just as well.
Subsequent Sessions
Follow-up sessions can be scheduled for 50 or 90 minutes, depending on what works best for you and your partner. Each session focuses on the topics most relevant to your relationship, helping you explore communication, connection, and shared understanding at a pace that feels right. Areas of focus may include:
Building Love Maps
Communication and Conflict Resolution
Rituals of Connection
Intimacy, Romance, and Sex
Love Languages
Finances
Merging Families (in-laws, exes, children, etc.)
Parenting, Step-Parenting, and Co-Parenting
Creating Shared Meaning
Nurturing Fondness and Admiration
Turning Toward One Another
Expressing Needs and Expectations
Roles within the Relationship
And more…
