It takes vulnerability and courage to enter upon the journey of psychotherapy. I’d love to help you gain access to your own internal wisdom so you can find a clear and authentic path forward. I will strive to provide a safe and encouraging holding environment for you to explore your inner world of feelings and thoughts, navigate your external situation, and increase self-awareness.

I completed my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Missouri State University in December 2023. I am trained in the evidence-based method of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and integrate this neurological intervention with person-centered counseling and mindfulness-based approaches. For couples, I also use elements of emotionally focused couple’s therapy (EFT).

My perspective is that we are fundamentally whole and have the drive and necessary resources within ourselves to heal. At times we need psychotherapy in order to gain insights, process distressing events, or develop new coping skills. This leads to more space in the mind, which in turn helps us experiment with changes in behavior that may be more adaptive to our current situation.

There are numerous approaches to counseling. I highly value the development and maintenance of a strong therapeutic relationship with the client and utilizing methods (such as EMDR) that have a strong scientific backing. In line with recent research on trauma, awareness of body sensation also plays an important role in my approach to therapy. When “the past is present,” we can especially benefit from attuning to the body. As is often said, “The Body Keeps the Score” (Bessel van der Kolk).

I also have a strong loving kindness meditation practice and can provide guidance to those who are interested in learning this approach to letting go of suffering.

Selecting a therapist is an important step and I appreciate that it can be intimidating. Please contact me at 417-597-4881 if you’d like to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if I’d be a good fit.
