Kelly Roe

MS, PLPC

Kelly Roe is a victim counselor at The Victim Center in Springfield, as well as a play therapist at Counseling Solutions. She received her MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a certificate in Play Therapy at Missouri State University. Prior to her time at Counseling Solutions, Roe has provided individual counseling, child-centered play therapy, and grief therapy since August 2022. She is currently under the supervision of Tricia Bremer, MS, LPC. Roe also assisted in child-centered play therapy research under the supervision of Dr. Karrie Swan, Ph.D., LMHC, LPC.

Before her move into the counseling field, Roe worked in the nonprofit realm for over seven years. Some of those experiences include serving as a program director at the Boys & Girls Club of Springfield, as well as creating a children’s program through the Drew Lewis Foundation RISE program.

My Approach

I truly believe that when genuine space is held for others, people find peace and healing within themselves. As a counselor, I just get the privilege of walking alongside folks on that journey. It’s my role to meet people where they’re at. I provide LGBTQ+ affirming counseling, and believe that it’s my job to practice cultural humility when there are differences between myself and the people I work with.
Grief counseling is an additional passion of mine. After experiencing significant losses myself, I personally know the power of receiving grief counseling when I was in my most vulnerable state. Grief work is sacred, so I see it as an honor to now be on the other side of this work as a counselor.
